box of boom's top 50 songs of the decade
i almost drove myself crazy, or in 2000s terms, b-a-n-a-n-a-s, putting this list together. these are my personal favorites, clearly in no way a definitive list of any sort and the ranking could probably be rearranged on a daily basis. still, i had to establish some sort of criteria for myself, so i went with 50 songs, 1 per artist, all studio versions, no covers. here goes:

Grizzly Bear “Two Weeks”
This animated video for “Two Weeks” by director Gabe Askew is so elaborate and elegantly crafted that it’s hard to imagine that it’s not actually the official clip for the song. Askew’s work is perfect for Grizzly Bear’s music, unfolding with fussy precision and grace while having the weight and texture of something sturdy and lived-in.
